"When we honor the body’s signals, the child’s identity, and the nervous system’s cues, we interrupt generational harm and create the conditions for real healing."

From Fear-Based Rules to Relationship-Centered Connection.

Trust the Listener isn’t just another parenting manual; it’s a clinical yet compassionate roadmap for raising grounded, self-trusting kids.

This isn't about learning a new set of rules to follow, it’s about unlearning the ones that keep us stuck in fear. Inside these pages, you’ll discover a more flexible way to parent. Together, we’ll explore how to:

Foster Body Trust: Understand how children relate to food and their bodies through Intuitive Eating principles.

Navigate a Body-Shaming World: Gain practical tools to help your child feel secure in a society that pushes overcontrol.

Strengthen Autonomy: Learn to set boundaries that support your child’s internal wisdom rather than overriding it.

Lead with Curiosity: Replace the pressure to "get it right" with a grounded presence that allows for flexibility and authentic connection.

"...And maybe that’s the most loving thing we can do—break the cycle not by shaming the generations before us, but by listening to the wisdom of our own bodies, and teaching the next generation to listen too."

Why I Chose to Say "Yes" to This Story.

"My path to writing Trust the Listener wasn’t a straight line. From an unexpected gap year after Texas Tech to building a specialized practice in San Antonio, my career has been defined by saying "yes" to open doors, even when they felt uncertain.

"For a long time, a quiet voice told me I wasn't "established" enough to contribute to this space. But through my work as a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and my own journey as a parent, I realized that I didn't need permission to share this message; I had already built the foundation through years of showing up for the work.

"I wrote this book for the parent who feels the weight of outside pressure. I wrote it to remind you that you are allowed to step back from the fear and trust the process. We are moving away from self-criticism and toward a more trusting relationship with our children and ourselves."

"Hunger, fullness, distress, discomfort, curiosity, and joy are all forms of communication. When those signals are consistently overridden—through food rules, body shame, forced exercise, or the dismissal of identity—the child learns a devastating lesson: I cannot trust myself. Other people know my body better than I do."
